Relines and Softliners

Denture Relining

Over time, the shape of your gums and jawbone can change, which may cause your dentures to become loose or uncomfortable. A reline helps restore the fit, improving both comfort and function.

At Comfort Denture & Implant Centre we have the option to provide you both a standard acrylic reline or a softliner.

Why do Dentures Need Relining?

Gum Shrinkage

As the gums heal and change over time (especially after extractions), the shape of the gum tissue can shrink. This natural process causes dentures to loosen. A reline helps adjust the denture to fit properly as the gums change.

Bone Resorption

The jawbone can also shrink over time after tooth loss, which can cause the dentures to no longer fit well. While bone loss can’t be reversed with a reline, the denture can be adjusted to provide a more comfortable fit as the changes occur.

Wear and Tear

Over time, dentures can become worn down, and their fit may no longer be as comfortable. A reline can improve the fit and restore the functionality of the denture.

Improved Comfort

When dentures become loose or uncomfortable, they can cause irritation, sores, or difficulty speaking and eating. A reline ensures that the dentures stay securely in place, reducing discomfort and potential oral health issues.

Benefits of Relining

Better Fit

A reline improves the fit of your dentures, ensuring that they are secure and comfortable. This is especially helpful for those whose gums have changed shape over time.

Increased Comfort

By restoring a snug fit, a reline reduces the risk of gum irritation, sore spots, and discomfort caused by loose dentures.

Improved Function

Well-fitting dentures are easier to wear and allow for better chewing, speaking, and smiling. A reline can improve the overall functionality of your dentures.

Longer Lifespan of Dentures

Regular relining can help extend the lifespan of your existing dentures by maintaining their comfort and effectiveness without needing to replace them entirely.
